Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is an American British musician and sitarist. She was the youngest and first woman to receive a British House of Commons Shield she's had Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian of Indian descent to perform live in concert and act as a host at the award ceremony. Anoushka is the emerging star of Indian sitar. She's a child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London, she spent the early years of her life moving between London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13 when her first performance at New Delhi took place. Then she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in 1999. Her career as a performer and recorder is remarkable, even at her youth. For a long time she performs regularly alongside her father. She released Anourag her first album solo in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Her stage career is very extensive for she has been in every one of the world's major venues. Anoushka's career does not only involve music. Bapi the Love of My Live, a biographical picture dedicating to her dad Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. In 2003, she starred on Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shankar's work continues to unfold and we can expect to see many things from her in the years to come. Anoushka Shakar, who was born in England lived the majority of her adult life in London Delhi. When she moved to California she completed high school. She started learning to play the guitar when she was nine years old and was a sitar player for the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi just four years after. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire many valuable experiences as she traveled with her father during his worldwide tour. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals, as well as performing with George Harrison. Her artistry and musicianship were recognized by British parliament as the best in Asian Arts.
